Cupid strikes and couples fall in love then look forward to tying the knot. However, there is a lot to do that goes on between love and marriage and that is where blogs come in! Some are able to provide you with a wealth of information – and sometimes more importantly – inspiration as you start planning your wedding.
Below are the top 20 wedding blogs that we feel are most helpful to us as we are in the middle of our wedding planning journey.
If you are truly looking for the best in weddings and you’re out to create that wow factor, then The Knotty Bride is the place to be. Alison, the owner of the blog, is simply crazy about weddings and it shows – so much so that she has somewhat of a “Knotty” (or naughty.. get it?) affiliation with anything related to weddings. I can’t say that we’ve taken it to that level, but her blog offers an incredible wealth of information and inspiration that is akin to some of the more commercial blogs out there that have teams and teams of people working on it. Alison, however, has managed to keep that personal touch in her writing which keeps us coming back for more. That is why, in our opinion, the Knotty Bride is the undisputed #1 of Wedding Blogs for 2015.
Always a Blogsmaid is a blog that was started by Mayra and Xochitl and is our number two on the list. Not only did their blog help us with some of the more mundane tasks involved in organizing a wedding, such as the detailed planning that goes behind it, but their section on Decor & Details is full of unique ideas that allow you to make your big day just that little bit different than everyone else’s. The best part of it is, they bring it with passion and humor which must stem back from the fact that both are currently active as “event designers” in an industry they that they love. These guys are definitely worth a visit if you’re in the midst of your wedding planning.
3. Ruffled Blog
Ruffled is also one of better wedding blogs out there which can be seen through it’s significant online fan following. You can also submit your own wedding pictures and stories to share with the world which has resulted in one of the largest collections of real wedding pictures online. This may be something for us to consider once our wedding is over! Pictures of real weddings are almost added on a daily basis by it’s large fan base, so you’ll never be short of inspiration if you are planning for your own wedding. You’re sure to pick up some unique ideas, just be careful that you don’t set the bar too high.
If you are in search for inspiration, Green Wedding Shoes is definitely a good source to get it from. This blog was created by Jen and Jason, whose motto is “to help couples personalize their wedding day and make it truly about the two of them as a couple”. What most impressed us about this blog is it’s fully fledged gallery of pictures that is easy to navigate through and can fuel your inspiration. Not only do they have good galleries of bouquets, shoes, dresses, and rings, they also have a entire gallery dedicated to boutonnieres. An entire gallery for boutonnieres people! You can also check out latest fashion trends and get an idea for where you may want to kick back and go on honeymoon once it is all over. It will be well deserved anyway.
When you are looking for unique ideas for your wedding, or want to add some rustic decor to your wedding reception, there’s a good chance you”ll find it at Brenda’s Wedding Blog. The best part of it is that Brenda can help you achieve all that at affordable prices. Who wouldn’t like that? There’s a section dedicated to special deals on anything ranging from wedding rings, to invitations and stationary which is updated regularly. Get ready to have a gala-style wedding at nominal costs! Furthermore, Brenda’s Wedding Blog is one of the few that features a comprehensive list of wedding vendors that she recommends personally, and that can turn all those hours behind the computer gazing at wedding pictures into a reality on your wedding day.
I Love Farm Weddings has been around since 2011 and is all about farm style weddings – as the name would suggest. You’ll not only get a chance to read stories of farm weddings, but there’s also an information on giving your wedding an eco-friendly twist to help you care for the earth on your special day. Who else can say that they saved the earth while they were having their wedding?! The blog is also an avid supporter the DIY spirit that you may find on the farm. You can explore images of farm style décor, and see pictures of weddings being held in barns all over the world. Just make sure you leave your overalls at home for this one!
The founder and editor, Chandra, is also a part-time lawyer and full time mother. Her love for weddings began as she planned for her own wedding where she found a bunch of inspiration that she felt compelled to share with others planning for their wedding. The site is easy to use and contains a wealth of ideas, particularly in the field of DIY, to give your wedding that unique touch. This means that it’s a must on our list of top wedding blogs.
Offbeat Bride is for those brides wanting to have a wedding that is slightly different than the conventional, and they strongly believe that couples should be able to customize their wedding as they see fit. At the end of the day, it’s their special day isn’t it? Offbeat Bride was launched in 2007, as promotional support for the release of a book with the same title but has now grown much larger and is a full-grown blog updated on an almost daily basis. The blog is full of “Wedding Porn” as they call it, or basically a number of posts offering unique ideas on anything ranging from decor, fashion, favors, food, invitations, and a number of others. You’ll be sure to find some unique ideas here, even if you’re just looking to have a conventional wedding.
Junebug Weddings is known for its editorial excellence and phenomenal photography, and I’d certainly have to vouch for that when browsing through the pictures. They hold an annual photo contest showcasing the best wedding photography of the year, and some of the pictures are simply jaw dropping and definitely worth a look. This is a unique to this blog and something which I haven’t come across before. Furthermore, Junebug has a great resource for when you’re in search of wedding vendors. They have a list of recommended vendors ranging from photographers, planners, and designers that all seem very competent in their respective areas of expertise.
Before The Big Day is a blog based in the United Kingdom that is run by Georgia, who characterizes herself as a “mild wedding obsessive”. The blog was started around 3 years ago, and was so successful, that she has now set up a new blog entitled “Before the Baby” to ensure that she is still by your side after the wedding is over, and when the little ones are on the way. What makes this blog even more impressive is that Georgia writes all the content herself and refuses to accept articles written by others. It also has a section dedicated to wedding fairs. So if you’re sick of being stuck behind your laptop looking at wedding pictures, why don’t you head out to one of the wedding fairs that she has listed on her blog to get some more inspiration?
Continuing with the theme of wedding blogs from the United Kingdom, the English Wedding Blog is one that is growing at an extremely fast pace. It is packed with incredible photos, hundreds of creative and innovative ideas from the part-time wedding blogger and she is one of the few to offer calligraphy services dedicated to weddings. That definitely adds a unique touch to your wedding! The website also contains a detailed planning section to help you through the more mundane tasks of getting married, such as tools to helping you stay on budget and helping you manage the coordination around your guests.
12. Boho Weddings
Boho Weddings is also one of the most well-known wedding blogs in the UK. The blog owner, Kelly Hood, is an award-winning wedding planner and therefore doesn’t just talk the talk, but she also walks the walk. This should give you a lot of confidence when reading through her blog and therefore warrants a place in our list. If the site had been a little more user-friendly, and a bit quicker, it may have ranked slightly higher, but it doesn’t take away from the great content that is available at the site.
A Practical Wedding is geared to helping you through each step of the wedding process and has organized it’s blog in that manner. It has a section for those pre-engaged, engaged, and married so it is easy to find what you’re looking for and is a little different from most other blogs out there as a result of that. It’s also one of the most user friendly websites out there, which is a good reason to go there since wedding planning is confusing enough as it is! With more than 2,000 posts in their archives, you are bound to find something that tickles your fancy.
Enter the inspirational domain of wedding planning in the virtual world at Love My Dress. You’ll get encouraging ideas for glamour and elegance, and will learn how to add sophistication and style to your wedding. You’ll also get to see fresh and unique content at the blog as it’s updated on an almost daily basis. There’s more than enough to keep you busy for a while!
15. Wedding Chicks
At Wedding Chicks, you can read about the latest in bridal fashion. It is a great “go-to resource” to help inspire you when picking out your wedding dress and one that I visit often. Check out the gorgeous silhouettes draped in evening gowns, column sheaths and figure flattering flares. You are surely going to admire the clever use of lace appliques, crystals and stunning pearls, I know I did. We all know wearing the right wedding dress can make all the difference on the big day, so make sure you give Wedding Chicks a peek before you make your final decision. They also have a nice selection of online vendors through which you can order anything from wedding favors, hair accessories, and stuff for the groom.
16. London Bride
London bride is from a London based wedding planner, Charley Beard, who admits having difficulty saying no to a cocktail. I can’t blame her! Her background has always been in creative industries and project management, and the “generic, mass market wedding world” inspired her to set up one of the first wedding blogs in the UK in 2009. She has always had a passion for weddings and remembers looking through wedding dress boutique windows and staring at all the details since when she was a little girl. Today, London bride is counted among the top blogs for the brides and weddings and is a great resource particular for those wanting to hold a modern style wedding.
Rock ‘n Roll Bride started in 2007 in secret by Kat, the owner, as she prepared for her wedding later on in the year. She discovered that she simply loved blogging too much and continued on with it. The aim behind Rock ‘n Roll bride was to showcase the kind of weddings that never got a chance to be properly represented in mainstream wedding media. In her own words, the weddings you will see here are as unique as the couple that planned them. It’s a great resource for inspiration if you’re not looking to go down the conventional wedding route, similarly to Offbeat Brides.
18. Style Me Pretty
Style Me Pretty has been ranked as one of the best wedding blogs for years now. Completely devoted to the stylish bride of today, the blog has a great deal to offer, right from pictures of gorgeous real weddings, to a section dedicated to seasonal wedding trends that will ensure that you’re wedding is right out there with what is happening on the catwalk. It’s a must on our list of top wedding blogs, but ranks slightly lower due to the fact that it has grown so big that it has lost some of the personal touch that it was so famous for in the past.
For those into rustic country weddings, the Rustic Wedding Chic is a great resource. You’ll find an entire section dedicated to various types of country weddings that you can hold. Examples include barn weddings, camping weddings, mountain weddings, lakeside weddings, or basically anything country that you can think of. The blog was set up in May 2009 by Maggie Lord, a “self confessed wedding junkie”, that was eager to share her experiences and concepts that she came up with as she planned her own lakeside wedding in Wisconsin. Sharing is caring as they say, and she has certainly done that!
20. Once Wed
This is one of the few online venues where you will find a free listing service for wedding dresses which is quite useful. This website has grown to more than 3 million page views every month and it’s showing no sign of stopping. They have a great section on real weddings, that are bound to move and inspire you as you embark on your own wedding planning journey.
